The Tour de France is like Mecca
for a cyclist. Being on the Champs-Elysees for the final day of the Tour is something I’ll never forget. I, of course, wanted to get shots of our man in yellow. It was pretty tricky though. They come by pretty quick, and though you have more opportunities this day because of a series of laps the peleton makes, trying to pick out a single rider is still tough. On one of the final laps I could see Lance Armstrong coming down the far side of the cobbled avenue. I trained the camera on him, and clicked a few frames. It wasn’t until I was done for the day that I noticed the American flag in the frame.
